The Montessori School of Waukesha has built a solid reputation of excellence in preschool, elementary and adolescent education for almost 50 years. Parent requests and student achievement led the school’s growth in the late eighties and nineties thus establishing the school as a middle school. The school is NCA Accredited (NCA CASI is an accreditation division of AdvancED) and member of the North American Montessori Teachers’ Association.
Recent evaluations attest to the students’ continuous successes:
- Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale
- Terra Nova Test Scores:
Students in grades 4-6 participate in a standardized test called Terra Nova. Each student is tested by grade level in a variety of academic areas with measurements by national percentile and grade level equivalency, as follows:
|Grade Mean Equivalent||9.7||10.5||8.7||8.7||8.8|
|Highest Score Achieved by Various Students||11.3||12.0||12.3||11.3||12.1|
|Grade Mean Equivalent||11.4||10.8||7.1||8.7||7.7|
|Highest Score Achieved by Various Students||12.6||12.0||11.2||12.6||12.0|
|Grade Mean Equivalent||8.1||8.5||8.0||9.0||9.7|
|Highest Score Achieved by Various Students||12.4||12.4||10.2||10.9||12.3|
Scores are reported with the whole number representing the grade level equivalent and the number after the decimal representing the month in that grade level. For example, 12.6 represents achievement analogous to the 6th month of 12th grade.
Dr. Montessori developed her method of education on the belief that children experience readiness for certain lessons, subject to their own development. The extraordinary scores for many students demonstrate the benefits of making a variety of challenging work available to students at every step of their Montessori and academic journey. The scores can also be attributed to MSW faculty and families who helped the students develop to their full potential.
