Pre-Children’s House: (Ages 20-36 months)
Your child will enjoy a wide variety of rewarding activities in a Montessori toddler environment. We will focus on practical life experiences and encountering nature to build concentration, independence and confidence. The children will learn care of the environment and self-care skills. Hand-washing, dressing and toileting are included in self care lessons. Children will have the opportunity to garden, create art and explore their own interests while using Montessori materials. If staying past 11:45 a.m., please have your child bring a nutritious, packed lunch to be served at 11:45 a.m. All children will nap from 12:30 p.m. until 2:50 p.m. Children must be registered for a minimum of two days per week.
Children’s House: (Ages 3-5)
Make it a memorable summer for your child with hands-on, fun-filled, enrichment classes. Your child will take part in a variety of activities each week. Literature, song, dance, cooking, art projects and activities await. The excitement all happens in a familiar and safe environment—a Montessori classroom.
Consistent with the Montessori philosophy, classrooms are prepared with developmentally appropriate materials for the various needs of your child. This program provides an excellent opportunity for students to maintain and improve upon skills acquired during the preceding school year. However, prior Montessori experience is not required, so it also serves as an introduction to students joining the Montessori classroom in the fall.
Children will be encouraged to explore as they are supported on their personal journey to increase their independence, expand their social and emotional development, and maintain or strengthen their academic skills during the long summer vacation. With an extraordinary 9 acre wooded campus, your child will have access to grassy play areas, sand boxes and outdoor play equipment.
Your child will work with a highly qualified team of teachers. A certified Montessori teacher will be available to assist your child as they manipulate the beautiful Montessori materials. Additionally, early childhood specialists will manage the integration of the celebration focus area in the classroom and oversee the outdoor environment.
Elementary: (Grades 1-8)
Students will have the opportunity to experience different worlds and areas of interest. Mornings are a time of exploration in the classroom with different themes each week; a field trip related to the week’s area of study may be scheduled on select Fridays. Afternoons will feature a variety of activities, including swimming on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Tuesdays are reserved for Zumbatomic®, the groovy, high-octane health and dance fitness program just for children. Thursday afternoon activities are specifically constructed to accommodate and enhance your child’s unique interests and abilities. In addition to the themed programming available to the elementary students, we also offer Math & Language Enrichment for students who will be enrolled at MSW in the fall. This program is offered to Lower Elementary students (1st – 3rd grade) each morning from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and is limited to 10 children per week. In order for the Math & Language program to be effective, families must select five consecutive days on a week-by-week basis.
Upper Elementary: (Grades 4-8)
This year’s Summer Program features classes specifically for grades 4 through 8. The classes typically begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at noon unless otherwise specified. Should you need care before or after this time, please complete the Elementary Registration form to specify blocks of time desired. Students will join others in Elementary outside of Feature Class times. Please note that classes have limits to the number of participants and are charged at a weekly rate. For consistency, participants should be able to attend all five days of class within any given week. Program times subject to change. Schedule will be given as program dates near.
Summer Math Practice: Those students wishing to maintain their math skills over the summer may attend practice sessions on varied Tuesdays and Thursdays as seen below from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Upper Elementary classroom. Participants will work primarily to review past lessons and maintain skills, but some may be able to learn new lessons depending on their level of ability. On most days, we will have a group activity after individual work time. Note: It is not required that a student attends all sessions. Sessions are reserved for students currently enrolled at MSW and entering grades 4 – 8. Anticipated dates for this program include the following. Rate of $14.00 per day.
