Pre-Children's House: (Ages 20-36 months)
Your child will enjoy a variety of challenging and rewarding activities such as painting hats, making window clings, and planting seeds. This classroom introduces your child to the developmentally appropriate Montessori materials in preparation for the Children's House classroom. Emphasis is placed on the importance of promoting independence and self-discipline with activities such as: hand-washing, pouring, self-dressing and more. The morning work cycle (8:30am to 12:00pm) includes snack, outdoor time, and a variety of activities. Potty training is not required. You may choose to enroll for two (T/R), three (M/W/F) and five-day attendance.
Children's House: (Ages 3-5)
Each week includes stories, songs, food preparation if applicable, and creative works. The outdoor play area is available for free play and all around good fun, like using squirt bottles, blowing bubbles and running through the sprinkler in bathing suits. Consistent with the Montessori philosophy, classes are held in multi-age classrooms and are prepared for the various levels of development, according to the needs of each individual child. Prior Montessori experience is not required. The program provides opportunities to continue working on grace and courtesy, sharing and problem solving.
Montessori Children's House Classroom: (Ages 3-5)
Separate from the weekly themes in Children's House, sessions are available for your child to be in a Montessori-prepared environment. This setting is an excellent opportunity for students to remain current with skills acquired during the preceding school year as well as an introduction to students who join us in the fall. We will also offer small group classes for those families who would like a tutorial environment called Math and Language Enrichment. These classes are offered on a weekly basis in one-hour sessions with no more than three students each hour. Please see registration form for details.Elementary: (Grades 1-7)
Mornings include exploration in the classroom based on the topic of the week while afternoons feature a variety of athletic activities such as swimming twice per week on Mondays and Wednesdays. Math and Language Enrichment will also be offered to students enrolled at MSW in the fall from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. (you must select consecutive days for this program to be effective). For a full description of classes offered, refer to the Summer Program brochure in pdf format.
